Moving Out of Our Head and Opening Our Heart — An Invitation
What would it be like for us to walk through life, not stuck in our head, but as fully present, embodied, connected human beings?
Dear friend,
I believe that we are being invited to a new way of life which involves more of our whole self.
Everything around us is pointing to this invitation.
Life itself, lovingly, will no longer let us live the old way.
Like an old pair of shoes that no longer fit, the way behind is closing. The only way now is forward.
We are being invited to something wonderfully new, and at the same time, us.
I believe that we are ready to accept this invitation.
The key to accepting the invitation is not money or circumstance. It has nothing to do with others. The key — as it is with many changes in life — is courage.
For just a moment, lift your eyes. Open your senses. Listen... Can you hear the invitation? Can you feel it?
Just now, did your body take a deeper breath? Can you see how even your own body is ready for something new?
What would it be like for us to walk through life, not stuck in our head — not stuck in our thoughts "about" — but as fully present, embodied, connected human beings?
What would it be like to take every step, no longer reactive to the surface ripples of circumstance – jobs, money, politics, others' thoughts and actions — but instead responsive to the deeper calls of life?
Patient. Trusting. Optimistic. Hopeful. At rest. The way a child can be when their strong and loving father or mother are near.
How would living like this change us, our families, and our communities? How would it change our world?
I believe we are being invited to find out.
Our first step is to move out of our head and to open our heart.
That step can feel — physically, even — like suicide. It's not.
You can take that step.
You will not drown — you are made for deep waters.
The world is big. You are stepping out into it. But you are not out in this infinite expanse alone.
You are safe to let go.
Have courage to leave your thoughts alone for a while, and open your heart.
