Dear friend,
To find what we're looking for, we have to change on the inside.
No external thing can bring this change—although we sometimes feel like it can, and many of us spend our lives trying to find that external thing.
What we're really looking for is rest, trust, a feeling that everything is going to be okay, freedom to play—to just be.
This is infinitely available to each of us right now.
It's already ours, in infinite supply.
The hard part isn't finding it—it’s receiving it.
We receive it by giving ourselves permission to receive it, despite any perceived lack of external permission we think we must earn.
Trying to earn what is already ours isn't just a waste of time—it's impossible.
Trying to earn what is already ours—an impossible task that uses up all of our energy, all of our days.
This isn’t impossible. It’s not even hard. Maybe that’s what makes it so elusive. It’s right under our nose. We’re already holding it in our hand. The rest, the freedom we’re looking for is who we are.
We’ll find it, and receive it, when we learn to open our heart.
